Summary

About you:

We are looking for self-motivated individuals who are dedicated to high standards, have a 'can do' attitude, and a problem-solving approach. The ideal candidate will have experience in the use of heavy plant machinery, with a background in horticulture and grounds maintenance equipment dependant on the roles outlined below.

Candidates will implement and maintain safe systems of work, whilst also undertaking report writing and data collection as part of their role.

The successful applicant will play a key role in keeping the city looking good by supporting frontline operations within our Public and Green Space Parks Team. They will be expected to be flexible in order to meet the operational demands of the service.

About the role:

We currently have 3 vacancies for PGS Specialist Skills roles. Posts include City Centre based working specialising in Horticulture within Parks and Gardens, one post based within Cemeteries and one working with specialist plant and equipment.

Public and Green Space Specialist Skills Operatives undertake a wide range of Grounds Maintenance duties across our Parks Department using both heavy and small plant equipment on a daily basis. PGS Specialist staff also offer guidance and mentorship to other team members as part of their role. The role requires a respectful and considerate attitude to all aspects of their work.

Public and Green Space operatives work as part of a wide team, and play a significant role in keeping Exeter looking good. The role offers candidates a clear pathway for career progression, an annualised hours programme with reduced working hours in the winter, and enrolment in the Local Government Pensions scheme. Successful candidates may be expected to carry out on call and weekend duties.

About the team:

Exeter City Councils Public and Green Space department are responsible for the grounds maintenance of the city of Exeter, covering roles such as grass cutting, shrub maintenance and street cleansing to keep Exeter looking good.
