Remedy Education is currently recruiting a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 5 pupil who is blind and has severe autism, at a welcoming and inclusive primary school in Greenwich (SE12). This is a full-time position starting in September, with trials available in June/July.

You will be working on a 1:1 basis with a Year 5 pupil who has severe autism and is visually impaired. Your support will help the pupil engage with learning, build confidence, and develop both academically and socially within a mainstream classroom setting.
Key Responsibilities:

Provide tailored 1:1 support during lessons and unstructured times

Use visual and tactile resources to support learning and communication

Collaborate closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals

Assist with managing behaviours and creating a calm, structured environment

Encourage social interaction and build trust with the pupil

Support sensory regulation and mobility around the school

What We're Looking For:

Experience: Previous experience supporting pupils with autism or visual impairments is highly desirable
Experience: Previous experience supporting pupils with autism or visual impairments is highly desirable

Skills: Compassion, adaptability, and a proactive approach to problem-solving

Knowledge of: Autism strategies (PECS, Attention Autism), and/or visual impairment approaches (tactile learning, Braille familiarity - desirable but not essential)
