Summary
Work Pattern
Your contracted hours each week throughout your apprenticeship will be 37 hours Monday - Friday.
Location
This role is based at Parker Meggitt’s Loughborough/Shepshed site. It is recommended that you live within a commutable distance of this location.
Key Responsibilities
Design Engineering: Support the design of airframe and engine seals for use in the aerospace industry.
Materials Knowledge: Develop understanding of polymers, composites, and technical textiles.
Computer-Aided Design: Use CAD tools to create and modify technical drawings.
General Engineering: Apply core engineering principles and practices across various disciplines.
Business Systems: Maintain and update content on internal business information systems.
Health & Safety: Work in line with company health and safety procedures at all times.
Engineering Principles: Learn the theory behind engineering practices to understand why systems work.
Technical Support: Gather and analyse technical data to support product and process improvements.
Equipment Setup: Prepare and set up equipment to assist with daily team operations.
Technical Admin: Capture notes during technical meetings and track actions through to closure.
Instruction Following: Understand and follow basic technical instructions and procedures.
Problem Solving: Follow structured troubleshooting steps to support issue resolution.

Training
Alongside your day role, you will work to complete your apprenticeship with your external training provider, SMB College Group. This will give you the knowledge, training and external approval to do your job effectively.

Qualifications
5 x GCSEs (or equivalent), grades A*-C / 9-5 in Mathematics and A*-C / 9-4 in English, Science, and two other subjects.In order to apply, you must:
Not already hold a similar qualification to this programme.
Be at least 16 years old when the apprenticeship begins.
Have the right to work in the UK.
Have been a UK/EU/EAA resident for at least the past three years prior to starting the apprenticeship.
Have completed full-time education before the apprenticeship is due to start.

Ability to prioritise tasks effectively and manage time efficiently to meet deadlines.

What does the future look like?
Upon successful completion of the programme — and subject to performance — you may have the opportunity to move into a permanent role within the team or business area where you completed your apprenticeship.
