An exciting opportunity has arisen for the recruitment of a Children’s Missing from Home Worker (temporary 12 month post) to be based within the Sunrise Complex Safeguarding Team and supervised by the Children’s Missing from Home Co-Ordinator.
As a Children’s Missing from Home Worker, you will undertake a crucial role in providing support and advocacy for children and young people who have been reported missing.
Your primary responsibility will include:
Completing Return Home Interviews: Completing return home interviews within statutory timeframes, providing clear analysis, and planning of support to prevent further missing episodes, and maintaining accurate records.
Building trusted working relationships: Using relational practice to engage children and young people to understand the reasons behind their missing episodes and ensure their voices are heard.
Collaboration: Work closely with young people, their carers and the professionals involved to develop safety and support plans and ensure a coordinated response. Advocate for the voice of the child in all aspects of care and planning.
Educating and Preventing: Deliver targeted interventions to increase safety and stability for young people who are reported missing.
What We’re Looking For:
Qualifications: Educated to a minimum of NVQ Level 3 within a relevant field e.g. Early Years, Health and Social Care.
Experience: Proven experiencing working with children and young people, particularly those with support and safeguarding needs.
Skills: Strong communication and partnership-building skills. Ability to build positive working relationships, and to engage and motivate young people. Ability to manage workload, maintain accurate records and produce high standard written material.
Knowledge: Understanding of safeguarding procedures and trauma-informed practice.
