Summary
CLINICAL SYSTEMS Responsible for the technical configuration and ongoing optimisation of the organisations clinical systems, including TPP SystmOne, InPhase Quality Management System, and other relevant platforms. Collaborate with Clinical Leads and system suppliers to ensure configurations meet organisational requirements, national dataset standards, performance indicators, and contractual obligations. Use expert knowledge of clinical systems to identify opportunities to enhance system functionality, workflows, and end-user experience. Plan and conduct thorough testing of new functionality and configurations delivered through system upgrades. Where possible, create and execute tailored test plans and scripts in advance, reflecting local configuration and minimising risk to organisational services. Where changes are introduced without advance notice from suppliers, promptly identify and assess the impact of these changes. Work with Clinical Systems Trainer(s) to test updates and communicate relevant changes to end users. Identify risks associated with clinical system usage and collaborate with operational teams to mitigate these risks. Analyse issues and incidents to identify root causes and implement effective solutions relating to the clinical systems. Maintain system integrity and data security, including the completion of system audits and monitoring user access. Manage and maintain user accounts for the organisations clinical systems in line with information governance policies. Provide first-line support for clinical system users, resolving queries where possible and escalating through agreed support pathways as necessary. Deliver training to system administrators/Quality and Performance Secretaries and support the Clinical Systems Trainer(s) in developing and maintaining guidance materials for end users. Proactively identify training needs related to clinical system use and liaise with training colleagues to address them. Document system administration procedures and ensure all materials are kept up to date. Liaise with system suppliers to explore and implement developments that improve system functionality or alignment with organisational priorities. Represent the organisation in external forums, user groups, and supplier meetings to contribute to the development of system best practice and stay informed of upcoming changes. CLINICAL CODING Communicate complex clinical coding rules and standards effectively to coding staff, clinicians, and administrative teams to ensure consistency and compliance. Ensure coding staff are informed of changes to national coding policies by monitoring updates from NHS Digital and circulating relevant information. Apply expert knowledge of mental health clinical coding standards, medical terminology, and anatomy and physiology to support accurate and consistent coding practice. Successfully complete the Mental Health Clinical Coding Course and participate in refresher training as required to maintain competency. Act as the organisations SNOMED CT lead, maintaining specialist knowledge of SNOMED coding and supporting its implementation and correct usage across relevant systems. Contribute to and maintain the clinical coding section within the organisations Data Quality Policy, ensuring it remains aligned with national guidance and best practice. DATA SETS Work collaboratively with Analysts on the implementation and ongoing maintenance of nationally mandated datasets, including but not limited to the Mental Health Services Data Set (MHSDS) and the Talking Therapies Minimum Data Set (IAPT MDS). Maintain up-to-date knowledge of NHS information standards and data definitions, as outlined in the NHS Data Dictionary. Investigate data-related issues and apply problem-solving skills to identify root causes and implement effective solutions. Explain technical information governance and data security concepts in straightforward terms, supporting non-technical staff to remain compliant with relevant standards and best practices. Represent the DSI Team at internal and external meetings, contributing subject matter expertise and promoting collaborative working
