Summary

The role is key in the operational delivery of the maternity services. This will include ensuring high standards of midwifery care by being a role model as a senior midwife within the Trust. The Deputy Head of Midwifery will have the oversight of the workforce, with the management of the budgets alongside the matrons and ward managers, recruitment and retention and driving a positive culture within the service. The role will ensure service improvements through actively contributing to KPIs/ CQUINS and specific local service developments. Th Deputy Head of Midwifery will need a robust working knowledge of the CQC Key lines of Enquire and recommentaions from current National Drivers of Maternity Services, benchmarking local outcomes and processes and then aligning seive improvement to meet the national standards of hight quality maternity care. Good clinical governance and the management of risk is a significant element of the role in partnership with the Head of Midwifery. The role will support the local and corporate patient safety team in the management of standards, monitoring of care, incidents, compliants, clinical audit, national standards of assurance regarding the maternity incentive scheme (MIS) and saving babies lives (SBLs) and other requirements as they present.
