Summary

We are recruiting a Youth and Family Officer at Caerphilly County Borough Council.

Working hours: 37 Hours
Contract Type: Full Time/ Fixed Term until 31st July 2026
Location: Learning Pathway Centre, Heolddu

This is an exciting opportunity to join Team Caerphilly and provide support across the wider Youth Services Team.

We pay an attractive salary of £30,559 - £33,366 and offer access to training and development opportunities.

The post holder will be responsible for delivering youth work with the primarily focus on engagement of young people, which will include the provision of non formal and informal accreditation, in partnership with school staff based in the Learning Pathway Centre(LPC).

You will support young people who are identified as at risk of exclusion, disaffected or disengaged so they can more effectively engage and overcome barriers to learning, such as those associated with social, emotional or behavioural issues. They will also create, co-ordinate, deliver, and evaluate the Youth Work element of the LPC programme, developing strategies to increase re engagement and to support the young people.

The post holder will be responsible for monitoring attendance, positively engaging young people and their families in order to promote positive outcomes and change behaviour, and through collaboration with other agencies, establish referral links for specialist support where appropriate.

For the role, we ask that you have:

1. A Youth and Community Work Degree (or working towards) or a relevant qualification in Community Development, Early Years, Education etc.
2. Knowledge and understanding of United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child.
3. Experience in Youth Work or Associated Field.
4. Full UK Category B (Cars) driving licence and the use of a motor vehicle insured for business / work purposes to travel throughout the borough to undertake home visits, attend meetings etc.
