Summary
This is a 37.5 hour per week role including 3 weekday evenings and occasional Saturday mornings. There is the opportunity to undertake a Level 5 Apprenticeship in Operations Management.
The Deputy Centre Manager will:
Support children (3-16+) in their learning
Be involved in the running and development of a busy study centre
This is a new role to support the development of the centre, whilst developing the successful candidate in the skills to run a small educational business.
2. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
a) To support the Instructor to prepare the study centre and work for students
b) To provide virtual and face-to-face reception support to parents. To liaise with and maintain positive working relationships with parents.
c) To supervise students, ensure they work effectively whilst they are at the study centre or on zoom, assist in maintaining discipline and to have a responsibility towards the safeguarding of children within the centre / online. To support the students in their learning, in line with the Kumon Method.
d) To accurately mark and record students’ work. To develop systems to ensure that Class Assistants are able to complete this efficiently.
e) To supervise student activities including, but not limited to: numberboards; listening to
recitation of times tables or numberbonds; and listening to and assessing reading.
f) To maintain student records, and help develop processes to improve record keeping and the smooth running of the centre.
g) To develop and instigate a social media strategy and other marketing initiatives, in conjunction with the Instructor.
h) To prepare and make stock orders and have responsibility for the worksheet stock.
i) To prepare monthly reports for Kumon Europe and Africa.
j) To support the Instructor to maintain financial and staff records, using payroll and accounting software.
k) To project manage the Awards Ceremony for students (up to two times per year).
l) To develop training materials for Class Assistants and information videos for new and current families to strengthen retention of current families.
m) To attend training, meetings and events as and when required. These may be outside of normal working hours (including at weekends), for which overtime or time in lieu would be awarded.
n) To carry out all reasonable duties as and when requested by the Instructor.
o) To work with, abide by and positively promote all Hayes Kumon Centre’s policies and/or procedures including but not limited to, safeguarding and health and safety matters.
p) There is no day-to-day line management responsibility within this role. When covering for the Instructor, there will be temporary line management responsibility.
