Summary


This post is a great development opportunity for a Band 6 Deputy Ward Manager looking to gain experience and insight into working with adults with a primary diagnosis of an eating disorder. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to practice a full range of specialist nursing skills in mental and physical health while developing managerial skills to support the ward manager.

It is an exciting time to join our services, to assist in leading and developing our excellent staff team to continue to provide excellent quality care. We are looking for someone to share our commitment and enthusiasm to come and join our leadership team.

As a Deputy Ward Manager, you will be supported to develop your leadership skills, participate in, and deliver high quality group and individual treatments and be a core part of the MDT. There are also opportunities to develop your skills in psychological therapies and sensory approaches.

You will work with the MDT to develop your generic and specialist skills in line with professional and regulatory standards (NICE) The service will provide you with an in-house education program, facilitated reflective practice sessions, supervision, and skill-enhancing workshops. There are opportunities to participate in clinical research and innovative practice. In addition, we offer a 5-day induction on commencement in post.

To be responsible for supervising the role of the named nurses in relation to care planning within the clinical area.

To be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of the evidence based care required, including health promotion for a named service user/group ensuring it meets Trust timescales.

To participate in the setting of quality standards, including the monitoring and reviewing in line with current clinical guidance practice and policy. Utilising the data available such as learning from incidences and complaints.

To assist in the management of safer staffing.

To ensure the post holder understands and meets their professional role and responsibilities under the Care Programme Approach.

To ensure that the requirements of the Mental Health Act 2007 are observed, adhered to and implemented.

To be responsible for the promotion of carer and service user involvement within the service and for its provision. To encourage recovery, discovery and independence, taking into account risk assessment and management.
