Summary
- To work as an integral part of the head and neck MDT including working closely with surgeons, oncologists, speech and language therapists and specialist nursing staff - To independently provide specialist dietetic assessment, treatment and advice to patients across the breadth of the head and neck cancer pathway (including education to families, support staff and other healthcare professionals) - To undertake detailed pre-treatment dietetic assessments and use this information to provide evidence-based advice, including advising the MDT on the need for prophylactic enteral feeding routes - To be responsible for safely facilitating the discharge of patients with appropriate home enteral feeding regimens - To be able to receive and communicate often complex and sensitive information and the impact this will have on a patients dietetic care - To effectively and safely facilitate the transfer of patient care within NUH and between neighbouring Trusts within the wider head and neck MDT - To support a dietetic service to head and neck patients from Sherwood Forest Hospitals Trust (Kings Mill) - To contribute to teaching and education for nursing staff and other healthcare providers - To keep up to date with the latest evidence-based practice in head and neck cancer and apply this to clinical practice - To provide clinical support to the wider dietetic team in line with departmental pressures
