Summary
Job Summary:
We are a small but busy GP practice committed to providing high quality care to our patients. We are looking for a friendly, organised and efficient GP receptionist to join our team and help ensure the smooth running of the surgery.
The reception team comprises of 3 staff members and with one leaving we are looking for one applicant to start soon.
Reception shift hours are:
Monday - Thursday 08:00 - 14:00 and 14:00 - 18:30.
Friday 08:00 – 14:00
Please note we are currently seeking an applicant to cover Mon - Thu 14:00 - 18:30. This is 18 hours as a minimum. You must be able to cover receptionist sickness at short notice and annual leave.
This role will suit candidate who enjoys meeting people with no other commitments and are able to be flexible.
Key responsibilities and duties can include but are not limited to:
• Welcoming patients and visitors in a warm and professional manner.
• Managing appointments and patient registrations via the practice’s booking system
• Answering telephone calls and dealing with patient enquiries promptly and courteously
• Act as the central point of contact for patients, be responsible for the distribution of information, messages and enquiries for the clinical team.
• Handling patient records and maintaining confidentiality at all times
• Assisting with administrative tasks as required to support the clinical team. This can include processing prescriptions, managing patient records, supporting digital triage, distributing documents, scanning and coding information and contributing to the cleanliness and safety of the environment.
• Ensuring compliance with data protection/confidentiality and NHS guidelines
• Opening and closing doors at the beginning, and end of day
• The performance of any other reasonable duties requested by the doctors/nurses/practice manager.
Person Specification:
• Previous experience in a healthcare or receptionist role is desirable but not essential – full training will be provided.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with experience in working with the general public.
• Ability to work calmly under pressure and multitask effectively
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• IT literate with good experience of Microsoft Office applications. Previous experience in using appointment booking and patient record systems is desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
• Commitment to providing outstanding patient care and maintaining confidentiality
This post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and as such it will be necessary for a submission for Disclosure to be made to the Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly known as CRB) to check for any previous criminal convictions. In addition two suitable references will also be required.
