Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a clinical psychologist with enthusiasm and interest in working with older people to join a friendly and supportive community mental health team. This post offers a varied and positive opportunity for a qualified Clinical Psychologist to work in a team which has both direct work and systemic ways of working.

The Bolton Older Adult Community Mental Health team offers support to older people living in Bolton with both organic and functional difficulties. We are seeking an enthusiastic individual to work with our team to provide specialist psychological assessments, formulation and interventions to older people and their families. As well as direct therapeutic work, the successful candidate will support team interventions for individuals living with dementia. This can be through supporting care coordinators with formulation meetings, care home intervention and support to family carers. There will also be opportunities for consultation work and training both internal and with external staff teams, as well as being involved with service developments and audit.

Applicants must be eligible for registration as a Practitioner Psychologist with the Health and Care Professions Council.

The post involves community work and home visiting, so applicants must be able to demonstrate ability/offer a strategy to undertake visits safely and efficiently.

Greater Manchester Mental Health (GMMH) Foundation Trust employs over 7000 members of staff, who deliver services from more than 122 locations.

We provide inpatient and community-based mental health care for people living in Bolton, the city of Manchester, Salford, Trafford and the borough of Wigan, and a wide range of specialist mental health and substance misuse services across Greater Manchester, the north west of England and beyond.

Greater Manchester is one of the world's most innovative, original and exciting places to live and work. From the beauty of the surrounding countryside to the heart of the vibrant inner city with great shopping, entertainment and dining options.

Wherever you go you will experience a great northern welcome with people famed for their warmth, humour and generosity.

Our people enjoy their work, have opportunities to learn and develop their skills and are encouraged to generate new ideas that improve care for our service users.

The Psychology resource in the service currently consists of a Senior Clinical Psychologist and trainees on placement. We maintain good links with the wider older adult psychology team in the Trust, Northwest clinical psychology training programmes and Northwest FPOP.

Applicants must be eligible for registration with the Health and Care Professions Council. Applications from current 3rdyear trainees are encouraged.
