Are you looking for the opportunity to lead a team and influence the future provision of the Acute Team services within Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Trust? Due to maternity leave, an exciting opportunity has arisen for a fixed term - 1.0WTE Team Leader Dietitian role at the City Campus,Nottingham.
The successful candidate will have a leadership role within the Acute Team, which supports several services in Haematology, Upper GI, General Oncology and Head & Neck Oncology, alongside supporting the Rotational Dietitians within Respiratory and HCOP pathways. You will also hold a clinical caseload, which is currently within the Critical Care Team at City Hospital, however for internal candidates, keeping your current speciality area will be considered and we would welcome your application. We are looking for an experienced and proactive dietitian with excellent communication, organisational, team-working and leadership skills.
You will work closely with fellow Dietetic Team Leaders, Therapy Service Managers, Chief Dietetic Technicians, Clinical Leads and Clinical Dietitians within the Upper GI, Head & Neck, General Oncology, Haematology & Rotational dietetic services to develop and support staff within their roles. As the Acute Team Leader, you will support operational leadership within the Acute team (including appraisals, continued professional development opportunities, staff attendance and wellbeing) to ensure effective and efficient service delivery, promote staff development & wellbeing, as well as providing expert knowledge and support for dietetic colleagues.
The current clinical role is based within the Critical Care Team, which will include a variety of clinical conditions in the context of critical illness, providing inpatient support (including enteral & parenteral nutrition) & support the Critical Care Rehab inpatient ward rounds & outpatient clinics post discharge. You will be involved in weekly journal clubs & CPD opportunities. You will also have the opportunity to deliver teaching on Critical Care Masters courses (run by Nottingham Trent University) & support service development.

The Dietetic service is part of the Therapies and Rehabilitation Services pathway, which is one of the pathways that together make up the Clinical Support Division at NUH.
We are a diverse pathway of AHPs and support staff, employing over 600 staff, who works together to deliver the high quality care we aspire to. Our HCPC registered AHP professionals comprise of physiotherapists, dietitians, occupational therapists, orthotists, prosthetists and speech and language therapists.
We have a Chief AHP to lead us on our strategic direction, and many of the pathway leadership team have pathway AHP backgrounds to support our staff. There are also Practice Development Therapists to support career development for all.
You’ll need to have excellent communication and leadership skills, be adaptable and confident to work autonomously and with other members of staff within a supportive Dietetic and multi-disciplinary team. We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated member of the team, with evidence of continuing professional development within their current role. Experience in nutritional support is essential.
Experience in Leadership is desirable; however, support and training will be provided. This role will include conducting staff appraisals; Health and Wellbeing meetings; supporting Clinical Lead Dietitians across all Oncology pathways in service development; coordinating regular meetings with the Rotational Dietetic Teams and wider Dietetic Acute Team. Experience in recruitment, risk management/ incident investigation and appraisals is desirable, however training and support will be available.
