The opportunity
Our client is currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Project Software Engineer to join their team. This role requires a proactive individual who will be responsible for the successful delivery of project solutions, ensuring adherence to scope, timelines, and budget, while meeting all technical and quality requirements.
The role
As the Software engineer, you will work closely with the Senior Engineer or Project Manager to identify and resolve any risks or issues, always aiming for a "right-first-time" approach.
This will be based in Chesterfield, Derbyshire
Duration: 6 months +
Rate: £50.00 per hour Ltd (flexible) - (Outside of IR35 subject to an IR35 Assessment)
Your duties and responsibilities will be
- Take ownership of delivering key project modules including PLC, SCADA, Networking, Hardware Design, Testing, and Documentation.
- Work under the direction of the Senior/Lead Engineer and Project Manager to ensure project milestones are met.
- Ensure adherence to company quality processes and procedures throughout the project lifecycle.
- Proactively identify and raise any risks or issues to the Senior Engineer or Project Manager.
- Drive the development and use of reusable modules by applying standardisation and modularisation where possible.
- Lead by example in promoting a safe working environment.
You will have the following qualifications and experience
- A degree or HND/HNC in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Control Systems, or a related field.
- Incorporation as an engineer or working towards professional registration (IEng or similar).
- Hands-on experience in system specification, design, development, and testing.
- Practical experience with Siemens S7 PLCs and WinCC SCADA systems.
- A solid understanding of control panels, electrical installation, and instrumentation.
It's great if you also have the following
- Ability to develop project modules such as PLC code, SCADA scripts, communication drivers, etc.
- Report progress on assigned activities and notify of any scope deviations. Review project documentation as required.
- Experience in system testing (CFAT, SAT), site installation, retesting, and providing warranty support.
- Assist in outlining design studies, requirement definition, and development of functional and design specifications.
- Contribute to site surveys, method statements, risk assessments, and documentation.
