We are looking for a Senior Estates Surveyor to join our Property Team to lead on a specified large and diverse portfolio of properties and projects.

You will have the opportunity to work across the county, however some hybrid working is included. Your base office will be one of the key NYC offices across the county, including Scarborough, Northallerton and Harrogate.

If you are a member of the RICS, looking for your next challenge and thrive when covering a broad range of surveying specialities, you are just what we are looking for!

What would you cover?

North Yorkshire Council’s Property and Land Team looks after a wide and diverse range of over 3,000 land and property assets spread across the beautiful 3,341 square miles of North Yorkshire. Managed through a centralised “corporate landlord” model, the Estates service takes care of everything from schools and office buildings to farmland, industrial units, and surplus land.

This team plays a key role in supporting the delivery of vital local services by managing buildings used by frontline teams, as well as working closely with partners like the Police, NHS, and third sector organisations to meet shared property needs. Whether it’s a community hub, a commercial space, or a patch of green land, the Estates service helps make sure every asset is used in the best way possible for the people of North Yorkshire.

The Role

As a Senior Estates Surveyor, you will manage and support colleagues within the team in delivering a range of Property and Estate management functions.

The main focuses of the role are to;

Maximise Rental Income - optimising the revenue generated from the allocated property and land portfolio through activities such as setting competitive rental rates, ensuring high occupancy rates, low voids and effective property management.
Manage the Commercial estate - overseeing and optimising the performance of a portfolio of commercial properties on behalf of the Council; ensuring land and property assets meet service user needs.
Manage and contribute to the delivery of key property and land related projects – managing key projects involving multi-disciplinary teams of property specialists, including external consultants to deliver completed projects on time and within cost
Manage relationships - Creating a single point of contact and point of escalation, building and managing good, visible customer care and service with a wide range of customers, tenants and clients – both internally, as part of a Corporate Landlord Function, and externally via commercial, lease, residencies and developer relationships
* For the right candidate, a recruitment payment of up to 10% of starting salary may be payable as a one-off welcome payment.

What you will bring

You will have:

· A full RICS qualification and membership (MRICS)

· Relevant experience within property or estate management.

· Sound technical ability and experience in and manging property portfolios, including commercial, operational and land assets.
