Summary
Technical Lead – Contract
Edinburgh or Glasgow (Hybrid in office part of week)
37 hours per week | Start ASAP – 12-month contract
£500 per day | Outside IR35

Our client is seeking a skilled Technical Lead to support and enhance digital services across key sectors. You'll guide a cross-functional team, lead on new feature development and refactoring, and ensure the maintainability and resilience of digital platforms.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead feature development and backend refactoring using AWS and serverless tech
- Design/document public APIs and ensure high-quality support for digital registers
- Collaborate on product/technical roadmaps and backlog prioritisation
- Promote and uphold best practices in architecture and engineering
- Guide Agile delivery, continuous improvement, and system resilience
- Mentor team members and support disaster recovery planning
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Strong AWS expertise (CDK, Lambda, S3, API Gateway, Aurora/Postgres)
- TypeScript, React, modern JS frameworks, HTML/CSS, accessibility
- Experience leading high-performing development teams
- Working knowledge of XP practices, Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD pipelines
- Skilled in testing (e.g. Cypress), monitoring (Grafana), and IaC
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Some out-of-hours work may be required to support service continuity.
