The Team
The Portering team provides a range of services to the University including rubbish collection, teaching room set ups, office moves and handling incoming and outgoing mail. They also support the Reception team in providing a welcoming and professional telephone service.
The Role
We are looking to appoint a part time afternoon Porter to provide a friendly, efficient and customer focused service. The hours of work are 1pm to 5pm (Monday to Friday, 20 hours per week). The post holder will be mainly working with the Portering team but will also include working on the main University reception and switchboard as required.
Required skills and experience
Duties will include teaching room set ups, parcel delivery, and management of incoming mail as well as some reception and switchboard duties.
The successful candidate will interact with a wide range of visitors therefore it is essential that they have excellent interpersonal skills. They should also have the ability to work collaboratively as well as independently and have a willingness to support colleagues in the team.
Whilst experience of operating a switchboard is desirable, we welcome applications from candidates with no experience as full training will be provided.
