⏰ Hours: 37 hours per week, rota basis

Job Purpose

We are looking for a highly motivated and proactive Civil Enforcement Officer - Buses to join our team at the local Council. Civil Enforcement Officers ensure adherence to parking regulations for On-Street and Off-Street parking, helping maintain safe traffic flow by patrolling foot and issuing Penalty Charge Notices (PCNs) for violations.

As a Civil Enforcement Officer, you will take on a unique and innovative role by conducting street patrols across designated areas within the district.

Key Responsibilities
  • Enforce Regulations: Ensure compliance with the Traffic Management Act 2004 and local parking orders.
  • ✉️ Issue PCNs: Assess and issue notices for illegal parking.
  • Collect Evidence: Gather necessary proof when issuing PCNs.
  • Monitor Loop Bus Routes: Travel these routes to understand problem areas and meet weekly with Stagecoach.
  • Maintain Machines: Conduct daily checks of pay and display machines and report issues.
  • ️ Inspect Car Parks: Perform weekly inspections and report findings.
  • Assist Public: Provide high-quality customer service for Council-related inquiries.
  • Collaborate: Work with enforcement teams, CCTV, and police for intelligence sharing.
  • Handle Abandoned Vehicles: Manage reports from identification to removal.
  • Report Issues: Inform departments about potholes, streetlights, and environmental concerns.
  • Train New Officers: Mentor and train new staff.
✅ Required Attributes
  • Knowledge:

    • Basic understanding of the Highway Code and Traffic Management Act.
    • Good knowledge of the Thanet area.
  • Skills:

    • Basic computer literacy.
    • Excellent customer service and communication.
  • Experience:

    • Familiarity with enforcement work is preferred.
    • Flexible with working hours and shift experience.
    • Conflict management experience is a plus.
  • Qualifications:

    • Willingness to attain parking regulation qualifications.
    • Full, clean driving license required.
    • ️‍♂️ Standard DBS check needed.
