Summary

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Home School Link Worker to work as part of our strong pastoral team within the Lumen Learning Trust. The position would be to support two of our primary schools located in Epsom, Surrey – Ewell Grove Primary School and Southfield Park Primary School. As Lumen schools, our staff are committed to ensuring a safe and happy environment where children love learning and thrive. We have a strong reputation for working collaboratively with other local schools and are constantly on the look-out for opportunities to enhance our provision. The right candidate will be joining a strong, professional team of enthusiastic staff who will work alongside you in a supportive and constructive way. The Lumen Learning Trust puts the children's needs at the heart of its provision - committed to enabling children to become successful lifelong learners and happy, fulfilled adults who can make positive choices about their future. We are seeking a HSLW who can be proactive in working alongside our staff and pupils to provide a secure link between home and school. We recognise the importance of a nurturing approach and ensuring children are ready to learn - the role of HSLW plays a pivotal part in this approach. A key part of the role is working preventatively with families, building capacity and signposting support and guidance. The HSLW will be an integral part of the Pastoral Support Team (HSLW, ELSA, Inclusion Leads) working closely with all members of the school community and wider service providers. This is a full-time role for 37.5 hours a week, term time plus an additional 4 weeks for training and holiday cover. We are looking for a committed person who has: ● A good standard of education, including Maths and English GCSE or equivalent (Grade C) ● Experience of working within a school or similar setting ● Knowledge of legislation and guidance surrounding safeguarding ● Ability to be a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead DDSL (or willingness to train) ● Awareness of local and national agencies that provide support for children and their families ● Effective communication skills, both verbal and written ● Excellent organisational skills and a proactive, professionally curious approach ● Competent IT skills ● A commitment to support people in difficult circumstances with an open and non-judgmental approach ● Confidence to constructively challenge when needed ● Ability to maintain confidentiality at all times ● Commitment to equality and anti-discriminatory practice ● Ability to put in place professional boundaries ● Willingness to work as part of a team
In return we can offer you: ● A happy school with a hard-working, supportive and friendly team ● Children who love to learn and always try their best ● An inclusive environment ● Opportunities for continued professional development ● Support from the wider pastoral team in the Lumen Learning Trust. Applications Closing date: 12 noon July 8th 2025 Interview date: July 15th 2025
