What You'll Be Doing:
As our Catering Technician/Trainer, you'll be at the heart of our hospitality programmes, supporting both learners and lecturing staff in practical and vocational activities within our vibrant "Pantry" setting. Your main responsibilities will include:
• Hands-on Support: Assisting lecturing staff in delivering engaging practical learning activities.
• Safety First: Supervising learners to ensure strict adherence to Health and Safety regulations.
• Equipment Champion: Checking, maintaining, and where possible, repairing vital catering equipment.
• Organisational Wizard: Maintaining a clean, safe, and impeccably organised environment in the workshop and managing stock levels and inventories.
• Mentoring & Guiding: Supporting staff and students in the effective use of specialist equipment.
• Beyond the Kitchen: Undertaking minor maintenance work as needed and assisting with administrative tasks.
• Continuous Improvement: Participating in risk assessments and keeping up-to-date with Health & Safety regulations like COSHH.

Who We're Looking For: Your Skills & Experience
You'll be a proactive and professional individual with a genuine passion for catering and a desire to help others succeed.
Essential Criteria:
Experience: Proven experience in the hospitality industry, coupled with a track record of organising and maintaining storerooms to a high standard. You'll also have experience undertaking minor maintenance work and working successfully as part of a team.
Knowledge: A solid understanding of health and safety issues within a practical environment.
Skills: Excellent communication (oral and written), strong organisational and administrative abilities, attention to detail in record keeping, and good IT skills (MS Office). You'll be analytical, methodical, and able to prioritise tasks effectively.
Interpersonal: Confidence in supporting young people of mixed abilities, a collaborative approach to working, and a desire to maintain a neat and tidy working environment.
Commitment: A strong awareness of and commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity, inclusion, and the welfare of children and vulnerable adults.Desirable (but not essential, as we support development):A Level 2 qualification in a relevant subject area.
A Level 3 Award in Education & Training/PTLLS or equivalent.
Experience in training, teaching, or transferring skills to others, or supervising students.
Experience working with teenagers or young adults within an educational environment.
Knowledge of products and materials within the hospitality industry.
