The Priory Learning Trust is looking to recruit a Behaviour Support Assistant to work at Priory Community School – An Academy. This is a non-teaching role focussed on supporting the wider operations and structures of Pastoral Support and Teaching within the Academy. As part of this role, you will;
Support the day-to-day running of the Supported Learning Room (SLR), ensuring that students are effectively supervised, and that high standards of behaviour are achieved.
Ensure students are aware of the procedures and expectations whilst in the SLR and, when necessary, reinforce the reasons for the sanction.
Be responsible for ensuring there is work provided by staff and ensuring that all work is effectively distributed and collected at the end of each day.
Develop additional programmes of work for students to complete during periods of time in the SLR in liaison with subject leaders so that student learning is maximised.
What you will need to succeed;
Will have GCSE Grade C/4+ or above in English (Literacy) and Maths (Numeracy) or numeracy and literacy skills equivalent to NVQ Level 2. Training in relevant learning and SEND support strategies.
Will have awareness of national frameworks, and evidence of working with students with a range of learning difficulties.
A good working knowledge or willingness to learn the relevant teaching programmes/strategies and a good understanding of child development and learning processes.
Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills. A commitment to young people, their welfare, education and personal development.

This role involves working with children on a daily basis and is therefore in regulated activity.
