Deputy Head Teacher - Enhanced Support Base
Murrayburn Primary School

Salary £62,556 - £62,556
Hours: 35 Per week

Murrayburn Primary School has three Enhanced Support Base Classes supporting pupils placed there through the City of Edinburgh Resource Group (ERG) process. Pupils placed in the classes will usually have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), and almost all will also have a co-existing condition (e.g. Intellectual Disability, ADHD, sensory processing difficulties). Class size is 8 pupils per class. Classes are supported by one full time class teacher and a team of three support staff (PSW or Nursery Nurse)

The DHT will have a teaching remit. They will have responsibility for the day to day operational running of the three classes. They will liaise with the partnership agencies involved, including council transport. They will have responsibility for strategic planning for the ESB in line with the mainstream school's Improvement Priorities. They will line manage the ESB staff following council policy and procedure.

This post is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check. Where an individual has spent a continuous period of 3 months or more out with the UK in the last 5 years, an Overseas Criminal Record Check will be required. You will be required to provide this check. An unconditional offer of employment and commencement in the post will be subject to the outcome of both these pre-employment checks being deemed satisfactory.

Salaries will be in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.
