An exciting, new opportunity at the University of Northampton; the primary function of this post is to co-ordinate the University’s application and subsequent reaccreditations for the University Mental Health Charter Award.

This is a key developmental post within the Student Services Department. Student Services manages a wide range of projects/initiatives designed to improve and promote support for student wellbeing and contributes considerably towards the University of Northampton’s Access and Participation Plan 2025 – 2028.

The range of services provided by Student Services is extensive and includes Counselling and Mental Health, ASSIST, Safeguarding and Sexual Violence Support, Financial Guidance, Student Support and Advice and the Multifaith Centre.

The postholder will also have responsibility for managing projects and co-ordinating Student-Services wide activities.

About you

The ideal candidate will hold a Project Management qualification or have equivalent relevant experience in overseeing organisation-wide projects and liaising with stakeholders.

They will have a proven track record in coordinating and delivering projects from inception to completion, ideally within a Higher Education setting.

Efficient administrative, research, and data analysis skills are essential, along with a commitment to data integrity and the effective use of data to inform performance and service improvements.

An awareness of key issues affecting student mental health and wellbeing is required, as is the ability to supervise events and activities. The candidate must be able to work independently, using initiative and flexibility to evaluate and recommend innovative solutions. Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills are crucial, with the ability to tailor messages for a range of audiences across different platforms including reports, web, and social media.

Experience in developing and maintaining effective data management systems is also necessary, alongside advanced IT skills, particularly in Microsoft Office. Personal qualities such as adaptability, the ability to prioritise competing demands, and interpersonal skills to build relationships and support strategic goals are essential. The role also requires the capability to manage and coordinate the workload of others, ensuring alignment with broader organisational objectives.

A degree or equivalent level qualification, or substantial relevant experience

Relevant Project Management qualification e.g. Prince2

Department

Library, Learning and Student Services (LLSS) consists of the University Library & Archives Learning Technology, Learning and Teaching Enhancement, and Student Services. The University Library provides adaptable and IT rich learning environments, with access to print and online resources, alongside expert support in finding information. Learning and Teaching Enhancement provides flexible opportunities for students to develop a broad range of academic skills, while Learning Technology manage NILE, the University’s virtual learning environment, and support the use of technology in learning and teaching.

Student Services is comprised of ASSIST (disability support), Counselling and Mental Health Team, Financial Guidance, Safeguarding and SVLO Support, Student Support, Advice and Outreach and the Multifaith Centre.
