The purpose of this role is to support the Operational Control Hub (OCH) team in ensuring the efficient delivery and management of public realm contract services. The role involves coordinating and responding to operational activities in real-time to meet contractual deadlines, handling emergency and reactive situations promptly, and proactively identifying opportunities for process improvements.

Additionally, the role aims to optimise service delivery by leveraging IT systems and tools (such as Confirm, Power BI and other Microsoft applications) with the potential to develop into a super user, thereby enhancing overall operational efficiency, value for money, and service quality.

What you'll be doing

As the OCH Controller duties include the following:

  • Service Delivery & KPI Management: Contribute to the effective delivery of control room services, helping to meet operational KPIs and standards.
  • Team Collaboration: Work as an integral part of the control room team to ensure high performance, effective communication, and seamless operational execution.
  • System Management & Troubleshooting: Assist in overseeing the functioning of operating systems; identify issues, organize corrective actions, and help mitigate operational risks to ensure system reliability.
  • Communication & Stakeholder Engagement: Maintain clear and effective communication with Senior Management Team (SMT), operational management, frontline staff, contractors, and other stakeholders.
  • Performance Reporting & Continuous Improvement: Support the generation of regular reports on operational performance, analyse data, and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
  • Operational Decision-Making: Act as a key point of contact for operational decisions, providing input and support as part of the team effort.
  • Deputise for OCH Supervisor: Provide cover for the OCH Supervisor when required, ensuring operational continuity through team collaboration.
  • Routine & Reactive Works Management: Assist in planning, coordinating, and monitoring routine and reactive maintenance works using systems such as Confirm; ensure defects are repaired within specified timescales.
  • IT Systems Monitoring: Help monitor and respond to real-time data from IT systems, including Confirm, OneNetwork, vehicle tracking, dashboards, and Power BI

Who we're looking for

Essential:

  • First class planning and organisational skills.
  • A methodical and proactive approach to processes with an eye for detail, including actively seeking work and opportunities for improvement.
  • Effective communication skills both verbal and written with the ability to present information clearly and confidently.
  • PC literate with knowledge of CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management System) and MS Office Suite.
  • Confident in collaborating with staff at all levels.
  • Excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to achieve targets, sometimes within tight time constraints, in a calm and controlled manner.
  • A team player with a proactive attitude, assisting colleagues as required.
  • Flexible and willing to travel to other site locations on an ad hoc basis, if required.
