Summary

About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Electrofusion Welder to join our team on a high-priority water main installation project in Thurrock. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing high-precision welding of DN160 HDPE barrier pipe, ensuring all work is carried out to the highest industry standards for safety, accuracy, and compliance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Pipe Preparation:
  • Inspect DN160 HDPE barrier pipes for damage or contamination
  • Cut pipe ends square and scrape oxidised layers using approved tools
  • Ensure all surfaces are clean and ready for fusion
Electrofusion Welding:
  • Align and clamp pipe sections using certified alignment tools
  • Weld using approved electrofusion couplers and a calibrated control unit
  • Follow strict fusion parameters (voltage, time, cooling period)
  • Record all weld data for quality assurance (barcode scanning, weld logs)
Inspection & Testing:
  • Visually inspect all joints for alignment and fusion quality
  • Allow full cooling before pressure or movement
  • Support pressure testing according to project specs
Compliance:
  • Follow site-specific drawings and welding specifications
  • Maintain adherence to all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations

Required Qualifications & Experience:

  • Valid Electrofusion Welding Certification (preferably for HDPE DN160 or above)
  • Valid CSCS or EUSR Water Hygiene Card
  • Demonstrated experience on live utility or water main projects
  • Familiarity with pressure testing procedures and QA documentation
  • Ability to read and work from technical drawings and method statements
  • Strong understanding of pipe alignment, preparation, and joint integrity

Desirable:

  • Confined Space Ticket
  • First Aid Certification
  • Previous work on barrier pipe systems
  • Knowledge of local authority water regulations
