Are you a passionate and experienced Speech and Language therapist, ready to lead innovation? A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Clinical Lead Speech and Language therapist in head and neck.

You will work closely with speech and language therapists and multi-professional colleagues across the Trust and to ensure high quality care is provided for all patients in the service. You will also have the opportunity to influence change in service delivery, work effectively in local and regional teams and lead improvement and innovation across head and neck pathways. We are ideally looking for an experienced and autonomous individual who has knowledge and skill in laryngectomy and surgical voice restoration. We have an established Videofluoroscopy service and have recently been successful in funding for a FEES Service.

This an excellent opportunity to expand your clinical knowledge within head and neck services, alongside expanding your skills across each of the Four Pillars of Practice. This role has a strong component of leading clinical transformation and improvement projects across clinical areas within the service. There will be opportunities to engage in research, present your work and educate in the areas of your clinical expertise. You will also be expected to support the learning and development of other speech and language therapists and multi-professional colleagues through training, supervision and reflective practice.
• To provide visible clinical leadership for speech and language therapy across clinical service, with a focus on head and neck, which includes autonomously managing a complex caseload, evaluation of quality and service performance and creating a culture of learning and development.
• To use evidenced based highly specialist skills to manage a complex head and neck caseload, which includes laryngectomy, surgical voice restoration, tracheostomy and late effects. This will be in outpatient and inpatient setting.
• Provide training/support to staff, patients and their carers.
You need to be resilient and able to manage and prioritise your caseload whilst supporting the work and development of the team.
• The speech and language therapy department provides clinical inpatient and outpatient services to a variety of specialities, including critical care, voice, ENT, stroke and community.
The department is well established in facilitating the training of speech and language therapy students and staff are involved in delivering a variety of rolling training programmes for other health care professionals across the Trust, relating to eating, drinking and communication.
• You will be part of a supportive senior speech and language leadership team, including other clinical lead speech and language therapists, team manager, as well as senior operational manager and speech and language therapy professional lead.

You will join a friendly team of over20 speech and language therapists. You will be primarily based at York Hospital and will travel to Scarborough and other Trust localities regularly.
