We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic and motivated individuals to join our welcoming Aintree Cardiology Department.
We currently undertake a wide variety of non-invasive and invasive tests including ECG, Ambulatory Monitoring, Tilt Table Testing, Exercise Tolerance Testing, Echocardiography (including Dobutamine and Exercise Stress Echo, Transoesophageal, Contrast and Bubble Studies, Specialist Valve Clinics, Advanced Imaging including Speckle Tracking and 3-D Echocardiography and Research), Cardiac Catheterisation and Permanent Pacing; both implant and follow up.
The candidates should have BHRS accreditation and a minimum of 5 years pacing experience.
This is an ideal opportunity for a current band 8a seeking a change, or forward thinking suitably qualified Band 7 who is looking to develop their career further.

You must participate fully in all pacing services (including direct patient handling) in accordance with departmental and National/European guidelines to ensure changing patient needs and service patterns are optimised. You will undertake and develop advanced techniques in your clinical area. You must be fully competent and autonomous Physiologist-led (medically unsupervised) LINQ implant. Being able to perform Physiologist led LINQ explant is desirable.

You will provide input into the overall staffing strategy for the department. This will include allocation of workload, relocation of staff and resources as necessary and in conjunction with the Clinicians and Principal Physiologist, assist with development and design of the Departmental Business Plan, this will include communication with Senior Management regarding staff negotiations, business plans, establishment and future developments.

Manage in conjunction with the areas service leads and Principal Physiologist all clinical areas to provide a high-quality service including planning, allocation and evaluation of work carried out. Ensure all areas a staffed safely and preforming for the best benefit to the patient.

Develop rotas, protocols and practices for the service and assist with the development of protocols and practices for all cardiac investigations.

Supervision of technical staff to enable provision of a high-quality service in all technical areas.

Personally develop the department in conjunction with the Principal Physiologist.

To act as a physiological clinical expert in the Cardiac Ultrasound / Pacing / Respiratory field, offering advice to all levels of staff (e.g. Consultant/nursing staff).

Work independently, producing patient reports that will, in turn, directly affect patient management and care. This will involve personal delivery of high-quality advanced procedures such as cardiac ultrasound / Pacing / Respiratory as well as initiating new procedures, writing protocols, writing patient information leaflets and undertaking research and audit. Reporting of unsuspected findings.

Monitor and maintain high professional standards in the reporting of all investigations, including cardiac ultrasound reports, thus ensuring that local and national technical standards are met.
