Summary


York Ward is part of the cardiology department at the Royal Brompton Hospital. York Ward is a 28 bedded dedicated cardiology ward, which predominantly treats patients admitted for day case procedures. The ward also treats patients with dysrhythmias, heart failure and pulmonary hypertension. York ward has vacancies for enthusiastic and dynamic nurses who would like the opportunity to specialise in cardiac nursing.

Staff will ideally have 6 months post registration experience, working in an acute hospital environment., Excellent communication skills and work well as part of a team.

· The post holder will work closely with the Ward Manager and multi-disciplinary team members in monitoring and maintaining excellent clinical standards of nursing practice and staff development as part of the ward team.



· To assist in the continuing professional development and overall performance of learners and healthcare support workers in the clinical area.



· To be responsible for the continuing professional development and overall performance of all junior staff, with the support of their senior colleagues.





· The post holder is expected to carry out all relevant forms of care without direct supervision and is required to demonstrate procedures, supervise qualified and/or unqualified staff whilst maintaining a safe working environment.



· To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and provide cover according to level of experience for any area specified.
