Purpose of the post
We are looking for dynamic and customer-focused individuals to join our Hospitality Team as we prepare to open our new public bar-eatery in late summer 2025. The new venue at 11 Market Street will be open to the public and theatregoers seven-days a week.
Successful candidates will effectively support all aspects of the commercial operation, ensuring the highest standards of customer service, safety and maximising of sales across all products, outlets and operating periods at the Theatre Royal. They will also provide back office support for the ancillary sales operation as required.
Key collaborators
This role reports to the Hospitality Manager and Head of Hospitality and has direct responsibility for the on-duty Hospitality Team. They will work closely with all departments and across all levels of the organisation.
Responsibilities overview
Commercial Operations
Supporting good stock management and accurate sales reporting (internal and external suppliers). Placing and receiving orders as required.
Supporting the good maintenance of bars, kiosks, stores and equipment.
Contribute to the development of EPOS, PDQ and pre-order systems at the Theatre Royal; support the day to day management and functionality of these systems.
Ensure the effective management of all hospitality and event spaces and associated resources, to maximise revenue generation.
Support the delivery of a programme of commercial, corporate, community and creative events within all hospitality and event spaces.
Ensure the highest standards of Food Safety Management are embedded across all commercial operations, maintaining up to date knowledge of current Food Standards and legislative requirements.
Support with the recruitment, training, management and staff development of supervisors and assistants; Ensure accurate records are maintained and monitor staff leave and absence records
Contribute to a positive and dynamic Health and Safety culture throughout all activities and duties
To support the fulfilment of all department functions during periods of absence, leave and as instructed by the Hospitality Manager and Head of Hospitality; Undertake other duties as reasonably required
General operations
Undertake responsibilities as a member of the Health and Safety Officers.
Undertake responsibilities as a First Aider and member of the Emergency Response Team.
Undertaking such other relevant duties as may be requested from time to time.
Duties as a member of the Theatre Royal team
Ensuring that the working environment and practices conform to the Trust’s Food Safety and GDPR Policies, appropriate Child Protection legislation and Health and Safety Legislation
To take all reasonable care and responsibility for the Health and Safety of themselves and other persons who may be affected by their acts or omissions and to co-operate with the Trust in achieving and maintaining Health and Safety requirements.
