LTF Recruitment is working with a specialist Alternative Provision Secondary School in Derbyshire (S41) to appoint a dedicated Secondary Teaching Assistant from September 2025. This role is an excellent opportunity to positively influence the lives of students who require a more personalised, therapeutic approach to learning due to behavioural, emotional, or social needs.
The Role
As a Teaching Assistant in this secondary alternative provision setting, you will:
- Provide consistent 1:1 and small group support tailored to individual needs
- Collaborate with subject teachers, behaviour mentors, and SENCOs to deliver structured, supportive learning plans
- Assist with emotional regulation and implement effective behaviour management strategies
- Promote student engagement, confidence, and progress across a range of subjects
- Support de-escalation and maintain a safe, structured classroom environment
What We're Looking For
We're seeking resilient and compassionate individuals who thrive in a non-traditional school environment:
- Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (Essential)
- Experience in a secondary school or alternative provision setting
- Strong behaviour management skills and emotional resilience
- A commitment to supporting pupils with SEMH, SEND, or behavioural challenges
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Ability to build trust and provide consistent, supportive relationships with vulnerable learners
