Long Term Futures are looking for a passionate teaching assistant to join a vibrant special school in Derbyshire, supporting approximately 140+ pupils aged 11-16. The school caters to a wide range of additional needs including autism, SEMH, speech, language & communication needs, physical disabilities and moderate or severe learning difficulties
Rated "Outstanding" in its most recent Ofsted inspection, the school was praised for its expert knowledge of pupils, inclusive environment and strong leadership
Role Purpose
You will support pupils in whole-class lessons, small-group sessions or one-to-one settings, delivering personalised learning programmes, promoting wellbeing, and helping them reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist teaching staff in the delivery of differentiated learning activities.
- Offer nurturing support for pupils' social, emotional, behavioural and sensory needs.
- Work with the SENCO, teachers and external specialists to plan, monitor and adapt support.
- Contribute to maintaining records of pupil progress and report at team meetings.
Person Specification
- Experience working with secondary-age pupils, ideally with SEND such as autism, SEMH or learning difficulties.
- Compassionate, resilient, flexible and a strong communicator.
- A relevant qualification is desirable but not essential.
