We are open and looking for a dedicated and experienced individual to lead our team.
The Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Store Manager to oversee all aspects of our newsagent and off-licence's daily operations. This is a hands-on role requiring a strong leader who can drive sales, manage inventory, ensure excellent customer service, and maintain a high standard of store presentation, with particular attention to the legal requirements of an off-licence.
Key Responsibilities:
* Manage daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures.
* Lead, motivate, and train a small team of retail assistants.
* Ensure exceptional customer service is provided at all times.
* Oversee all aspects of off-licence operations, ensuring strict adherence to licensing laws, including age verification for alcohol and tobacco sales.
* Manage stock levels, including ordering, receiving, and merchandising products for both newsagent items and alcoholic beverages.
* Implement and maintain visual merchandising standards to attract customers, ensuring responsible display of age-restricted products.
* Handle cash and card transactions, ensuring accurate till reconciliation.
* Monitor sales performance and implement strategies to achieve targets.
* Maintain a clean, organised, and safe store environment.
* Handle customer queries and resolve any issues efficiently and courteously.
* Ensure full compliance with all relevant retail regulations, particularly those concerning alcohol sales, underage sales, and health & safety.
* Manage staff rotas and ensure adequate cover.
What we're looking for:
* Proven experience in a retail management role, preferably within a convenience store, newsagent, or similar fast-paced retail environment with experience managing an off-licence or selling age-restricted products.
* Strong understanding of UK licensing laws relating to the sale of alcohol and tobacco.
* Strong leadership and team management skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* A customer-focused approach with a friendly and approachable demeanour.
* Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Ability to work independently and under pressure.
* Basic computer literacy.
* Flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and public holidays as required by the business.
What we offer:
* Salary: £32,500 - £39,500 per annum, depending on experience.
* Working Hours: 37.5 hours per week, with a degree of flexibility required to cover store opening hours.
