This is a fantastic opportunity to join a specialist secondary school in North Manchester that caters to students with Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. This is a full-time, term-time role starting in September. It is initially offered on a temporary basis, with the potential to become permanent depending on performance and fit within the team.


Your New Job

As a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting both teaching and learning across the school. You will work closely with teachers to deliver targeted interventions, support students with additional needs, and occasionally lead lessons in the teacher's absence. Key responsibilities include:

  • Supporting students with SEMH needs in and out of the classroom
  • Delivering small group and one-to-one interventions
  • Assisting with planning and adapting learning materials
  • Promoting positive behaviour and emotional regulation
  • Collaborating with teaching and pastoral staff to ensure consistent support

What You'll Need to Succeed

  • HLTA status or equivalent experience in a similar role
  • Experience working with children or young people with SEMH or additional needs
  • Strong communication and behaviour management skills
  • A calm, patient, and resilient approach
  • A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
