Summary
Please note this is not a Swansea city council job. You will be working with a private client who received direct payments.
This is a temporary position for 8 weeks starting from 25th June 2025 as my usual companion is having an operation during this time.
A little about myself:
I am an older man living in Swansea. I like to play chess, dominies and cards and I enjoy chatting about my childhood in Swansea and my time in the army during national service in the 1950s. I enjoy going to a Forget me Not Club on Wednesdays between 10 and 12 noon and would like you to take me there, wait with me (it is a lovely club and is actually for carers, so you can have a cup of tea and a chat whilst I play dominoes) and take me home.
Driver required to take me out.
Male / female preferred.
Hours of work
Up to 16 hours a week. Day time care only is required, and hours are flexible, although I would like you to work between 0900 or 0930 and 1230/1300 on Wednesday (which is when my Forget me Not club is held). I attend a day centre on Mondays and Thursdays between 0900 and 1430 and no care is needed during those times, although those are good times to do any cleaning (see below).
Rate of pay.
Self Employed PA - £16.92 an hour
Desirable
I’d prefer if:
• You were female.
• You have previous experience.
• You have a driving licence and a car
I’d like support with companionship mainly, but I will need some light cleaning to be done (around 1.5 hours a week) and you will need to collect my shopping (locally - it will be pre ordered) and put it away once a week. I have domiciliary help, and you would not need to help prepare my food, wash my clothes or change my bed linen.
I will need my PA to:
Respect and understand the importance of privacy and confidentiality.
Be confident, mature and have patience.
Be dependable and arrive on time.
Be friendly with an easy-going manner.
Be adaptable and flexible.
Be supportive but not take over.
Have business insurance on your car to take clients out.
Concerning the position
This is a temporary position whilst my usual companion is absent on sick leave. There is a trial period of 2 weeks. You will be self-employed and responsible to pay your tax, national insurance and so on.. A DBS MUST be processed prior to any commencement of employment. Costs of DBS will be met by Swansea council where applicant is eligible.
