We are looking to recruit - Highways Gully Operative
About the role
Responsible for undertaking as part of a team, or as an individual predominantly involved in the physical side of cleaning and removal of gully detritus/blockages including drainage investigations in a coordinated, timely and efficient way to reduce the impact of flooding/standing water and ice forming on the network during winter months.
Ensuring value for money and sustainability within Wakefield Metropolitan District Council highway network.
Specifically:
Completion of all works within the requirements of the Highways Gully Strategy.
Works completed in an effective manner that minimises disruption to all road users within the District
Work is carried out safely.
Work is carried out to specification
Who we are looking for
The successful candidate for this role will be organised, focused, and have a high level of motivation to make certain the cleansing team completes work to the expected quality and timescales. This is a physically demanding role requiring a positive attitude and must be a team player.
Must be able to use the suction system, jetting equipment and hand held personal computer – training will be offered once in role. This is a customer focused service, so personal conduct is key, as is good levels of communication.
We are also looking for someone who can adapt well to the demands of the service, who are willing to take part in winter maintenance function or other out of hour’s functions. LGV training will be offered once in role.
