Summary

This post is designed to provide advanced sub-specialty training in paediatric anaesthesia. The post would be suitable for those wanting to specialise in paediatric anaesthesia and it will provide extensive training and experience in this sub-specialty. It will also give significant opportunities for clinical audit and research. The post is for one year and can be tailored to previous experience. Research/QI/Audits and congenital cardiac education in the form of monthly CCAN formal teaching and involvement in departmental/PICU SIM training. This post does not currently have an out of hours banding supplement, but this may change in the future. OBJECTIVES OF THE POST 1.To work with paediatric anaesthetic colleagues in the provision of a comprehensive paediatric anaesthetic service in the Leeds Childrens Hospitals. 2.To develop or consolidate expertise in paediatric anaesthesia and fulfil all requirements for advanced training in paediatric anaesthesia. 3.To maintain and contribute to the teaching and research activities, already established within the Trust. 4.To support service plans for the specialty, taking account of the changes in clinical practice and new technologies available. 5.To participate in and progress clinical governance. This is a clinical, as well as an academic post and hence the appointee will be expected to actively participate in research projects. Access to paper based as well as electronic publications is available in the hospital library and within the anaesthetic department. The involvement of trainees in research is encouraged and supervision is provided. PC access and other I.T. support is also available.
