About the Role

We are seeking a dedicated andcompassionateperson to join the Oxfordshire Registration Service as a Registration Officer.In this role, you will spend the majority of your time interviewing customers in face-to-face appointments, registering life events (births, deaths, and stillbirths), and taking Notices of Marriage and Civil Partnership.

This is a very busy and varied role in whichyou will be meeting customers who haveindividualneeds and circumstances, may display a range of emotions and who may have complex and challenging situations.It offers the opportunity to provide excellent service andsupportat important moments in customers' lives and to ensure that they are able to complete the required procedures within statutory frameworks and timescales. You will work in a fast-paced, customer-facing environment with back-to-back appointments every 30-45 minutes.Once the initial training period has been completed, you will also spend time in the Registration Hub, assisting colleagues and customers with complex registration queries. At a later stage you will also be trained to carry out marriage and civil partnershipceremonies.

About you

As a Registration Officer, you will enjoy engaging with members of the public at pivotal times and guiding them through a legal process. You will be able to apply complex regulations and principles and explain them in a way which is readilyunderstandableby the general public. You will beconfidentin your ICT skills (training will be given in Registration software) and willing to use your initiative in combination with guidance from experienced Registration Officers, to solve problems and achieve the required outcome for customers. You will also need to be flexible as situations and places of work may change at relatively short notice. You will be thorough and careful when carrying out daily checks on certificates and finance records, and you will also be willing to embrace thechallengeof managing large groups of people at ceremonies and speaking to audiences of varying sizes.
