Rotational Dietitian

Department: Nutrition & Dietetics

Fixed-term contract until 31.07.2026

Band 5 £29,970 - £36,483 per annum pro rata (the vacancy is a Band 5 post, however we will also accept applications from Dietitians either waiting for or with HCPC registration, who have reduced clinical experience and would work in a Band 4 role until competencies are achieved)

Full-time 37.5 hours per week, all MKUH roles are considered for flexible working.

An excellent opportunity has arisen for a registered Dietitian to join our friendly, proactive dietetic team. This post is a rotational band 5 position and will be a good opportunity to practice all you have learnt, to develop your knowledge and skills.

We will give you all the support you need as you join a multidisciplinary team of health care professionals, you will be well supported by an acute team leader. Additional support will be available through the Trust's interdisciplinary preceptorship programme, band 5 dietetic peer-support group and opportunities for CPD (internally and externally to the Trust).

• To work as part of a team to provide nutrition and dietetic services to inpatients and outpatients of Milton Keynes General NHS Trust. Part of this role is to assist in supporting Dietetic Students and Dietetic Assistants. The post holder will be an autonomous practitioner.
• You will have the the opportunity cover areas such as medicine, surgery, gastroenterology, diabetics, stroke and care of the elderly, working with specialist dietitians (as well as shadowing opportunities in the areas of critical care and parenteral nutrition).

We will provide supervision and mentoring with experienced dietitians and opportunities for gaining experience from a number of specialist dietitians working across the wider department (such as paediatrics, cancer care, learning disabilities, gastro, community, mental health).

You should have excellent interpersonal and time management skills with an ability to be flexible and have a strong commitment to teamwork. The successful candidate will work closely with the community and acute colleagues to provide a holistic and patient-centred service.

You will be joining our wider team of over 30 registered dietitians, dietetic support workers and admin staff, covering acute, community, paediatric and learning disability services. We have excellent secretarial and dietetic assistant support and take students for clinical placements from the University of Surrey and Oxford Brookes University.

Clinical:
• To develop and maintain a high standard of knowledge and practical experience in dietetics.

Education:
• To beproactive in identifying and addressing the educational needs of patients and carers including health professionals from other disciplines.

Clinical governance:


• To work within the Code of Practice of theHealth Care Professions Council (HCPC)and the guidelines and policies of the HCPC and the British Dietetic Association

Committee membership:


• The postholder will be required to represent the Dietetic Department at internal or external meetings as appropriate including attendance at Quality Development Meetings.
