Summary

Lead the Grants Directorate within the Cabinet Office in delivering its objectives. The Deputy head of Finance – Grants will be responsible for all financial management of the directorate, including senior stakeholder management, budgeting, problem solving to month end. The role is currently supported by two grants finance/ business management members of the team. Going forward the finance team will evolve and this role may include support for other areas and additional line management.
  • Lead budget management and forecasting – work closely with your budget holders, service delivery teams and other finance team members to effectively and accurately manage budget, forecast and variances.

  • Lead reporting and month end process – working closely with all your stakeholders, review, analyse, accrue and make corrections as needed to ensure each cost centre data is correct. Produce reporting packs on time that are clear, succinct, accurate and appropriate to the stakeholder.

  • Highly skilled stakeholder management – ensure data (inwards) is being managed effectively and work with stakeholders to keep deliverables and timelines on track.

  • Project lead and Business case management – responsible for delivery of finance process improvements and projects. Provide finance support for any business case requirements (e.g. budget bids, procurement etc).

  • Line management – to manage, coach and develop team members; responsible for overall deliverables and behaviours.

  • Compliance – to ensure compliance with internal policies & procedures, financial reporting standards, including principles around Managing Public Money and FReM. Additionally, lead on any NAO and other audit requirements.

  • Governance and financial accountability – to provide support with data analysis and narrative for any governance group.

  • Responsible for all cost recovery/ income collection – manage the income as per agreed timelines, resolve internal and external issues for any recharges to government departments and any other public body.

  • Where necessary, undertake any other work and projects, in support of the Grants & Government Commercial Function.
