Summary
Job Description
Addiction Workers are part of a multi-disciplinary team and work closely with colleagues from health, social work and the voluntary sector to provide a service to individuals and their families experiencing drug and/or alcohol problems.
Addiction Workers carry a caseload of service users with alcohol, drug and psycho-social issues, working alongside and under supervision of the Senior Addiction Worker and other colleagues, taking responsibility for producing assessments, including risk assessments leading to care plans and interventions which will assist the service user in addressing their addiction issues, improving their situation and promoting better outcomes for their health and wellbeing.
As Addiction Workers we require to have an awareness of Adult and Child Protection procedures and other relevant legislation.
The post holder will be expected to support OST clinics, both within the service and within the local GP practices
This a part time post with Dumbarton Joint Hospital Alcohol and Drug Recovery Service.
Working days to be negotiated and flexible to the needs of the service.
Applicants should hold a Certificate in Addiction Studies, SVQ3 or any other relevant professional qualification and have experience of working within a Drug and Alcohol Service within the community as these are essential requirements of the post.

Requirements
This post is considered as Regulated Work with Children and Adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (Scotland) Act 2007 and as such membership with the PVG scheme is essential. Further details of this scheme can be found here.
Preferred applicants will be required to become members of the relevant PVG scheme, or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer being made by West Dunbartonshire Council.
Responsibilities
The employment for which you are applying is excepted from the provisions of section 4(2) of the Rehabilitation of Offenders (Exceptions) Order 1975.
Applicants are, therefore, not statutorily entitled to withhold information about convictions which for other purposes are "spent" under the provisions of the Act. In the event of employment any failure to disclose such convictions could result in dismissal or disciplinary action.
