The hourly rate for this post starts at: £14.09 increasing yearly

Driver required on an part time basis to support Community Transport Services in delivering a safe transport service to Vulnerable Children and Special Needs Service Users.


Hours for this role are as follows:


Key Activities



  • Responsible for the safe transportation of vulnerable children, adults and special needs service users from place of residence to Support centres and Schools within West Lothian



  • Completing vehicle safety checks logging and reporting faults to management team

  • Following safe working practices in relation to your role.

  • Assisting service users in boarding and embarking safely



  • Conversant with correct use of all specialist equipment on the vehicle including tail-lifts/ramps/clamps/restraints/harnesses- training provided.

  • Assisting Passenger Escort in securing passengers using seatbelts and restraining systems



  • Working alongside the Passenger Escort to ensure the needs of the service users are met

  • Any other reasonable duty required by the service


Essential Skills:



  • Current driving license with minimum Cat D1 entitlement

  • Up to date Driver CPC

  • Drivers Digital Tachograph Card.


You will have excellent communication skills and experience of working with children and adults with special needs would be an advantage.


This post is considered Regulated Work with children and/or protected adults under the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scotland Act 2007. From 28 February 2011 preferred candidates will be required to join the PVG Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update check prior to a formal offer of employment being made by West Lothian Council
