Summary
The post holder will be responsible for the daily care of Oesophagogastric inpatients and will be expected to lead the team of junior staff on the UGI Unit, particularly in the allocation of staff to ward work, theatre sessions and outpatient clinics. Teaching/research: Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is a teaching hospital Trust, and the post-holder will be required to participate in programmes for teaching clinical students, training junior doctors and in clinical examinations. Opportunities to further develop formal teaching skills are provided and encouraged. There will also be ample opportunity for the post holder to be involved in research. The post-holders contribution to teaching, training, research and audit will be included in the regular job plan review. Clinical Governance The post-holder will participate in clinical governance activities, including clinical audit, clinical effectiveness, risk management, quality improvement activities as required by the Trust, Health Authorities, and external accrediting bodies. In addition, the postholder will be responsible for organising the monthly Morbidity & Mortality meeting and will actively participate in entry of data into National Databases, such as NOGCA and CODA.
