Summary


To contribute to the delivery of a comprehensive and modern Primary Care Dispensary Service whilst ensuring ensuring prescriptions are issued correctly.

Preparing, dispensing and managing prescription medications. You will also assist patients with questions, handle prescription charges and maintain stock levels.

You will be required to work at our Widdrington and Felton sites.

Northumbria Primary Care Ltd (NPC) is a pioneering partnership with local GPs and now manages several GP practices with around 50,000 registered patients in Northumberland and North Tyneside.

Whilst appointees will have a base practice within NPC, they may be asked to work at other practices across our group. We do however limit this as much as possible as we appreciate continuity is vital to effective primary care.

• Undertake activities within the Dispensary which contributes to the efficient and effective delivery of medicines to patients.
• To participate in the dispensing of medication for patients.
• To participate in the checking of patient’s own drugs.
• To organise and re-stock doctors home visit bags with all drugs and consumables required
• To participate in the provision of topping up service including the ordering, distribution and the safe/secure storage of medicines.
• To undertake the preparation of medicines
• To ensure that patients are the focus of everything we do and follow good practice shared in line with NPC/Trust’s policies and procedures, such as learning from complaints and concerns.
• To have a duty to take reasonable care for own health and safety, and that of others who
• May be affected by own activities; to cooperate with NPC by complying with all health and safety rules and safe systems of work; and to inform own line manager of any work situation, or practice which may be considered a danger to health and safety.
• To contribute to the delivery of the quality standards and targets outlined in NPC/Trust
• Risk Management Strategy and local operational policies.
