Summary

About the Role and our Ideal Candidate
This is a great opportunity to work closely with design, field and principal engineers and develop all-round skills. You will also have the chance to work on Capital Projects and small rechargeable schemes as well as day to day maintenance.

As a Street Lighting Technician, you will report into the Senior Engineer and carry out the following:

Undertake duties relating to the planned and routine maintenance of street lighting assets.
Set up and maintain databases.
Carry out ad hoc inspections and condition surveys.
Handle ground work for small projects.
As we are a hybrid working organisation, you will be provided with a Chromebook and the expectancy is that you come into the office approximately between 2-3 days a week depending on project requirements and role.


About You

To be successful as a Street Lighting Technician, you will:

Be able to communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues.
Understand corporate vision, plan and activities which may impact them.
Good level of IT Skills with knowledge and understanding of industry relevant software.
Good problem solver with good analytical skills.
Some relevant experience or HNC/HND qualifications would be desirable.
Willingness to develop technical expertise in street lighting systems.
Ability to work independently in the field and manage multiple priorities.
Keen interest in Street Lighting infrastructure & innovation and how it relates to the wider projects.
Understand corporate vision, plan and activities which may impact them.

About Us
The Design and Delivery Department is made of 25 staff delivering planned capital projects onto the ground from start to finish. The team is a multi disciplinary team comprised of highway designers, planned maintenance engineers, street lighting engineers, traffic order officers, land surveyors and traffic survey officers. The team coordinates to deliver projects of varying sizes on behalf of the Royal Borough of Kingston and the London Borough of Sutton.

This is an amazing opportunity to work in a highway design team that covers all facets of delivery, from initial feasibility through detailed design to site supervision and contractor management. This is an unusual blend that the right candidate will flourish in. The Design and Delivery Team allows synergy working with the capital renewals and street lighting teams with team members able to learn all aspects of delivery in a highway environment.
