Summary


This role is a new role within the department of Rheumatology to replace a SAS doctor, the appointed candidate will join an existing team of medical staff including six Consultants, Registrars and GP trainees. On joining the department, you will become part of a well-established team and will help us continue to drive forward improvements in the service that we provide to our patients.

Applicants should have MRCP and previous UK experience.

The department maintains responsibility for the prescribing and monitoring of DMARDS for many of our patients, supported by a dedicated Rheumatology DAWN administrative team. The post holder will be expected to assist when needed in the monitoring of these patients. They will be expected to share responsibilities for inpatient Rheumatology ward referral reviews with the Rheumatology Specialist Trainee Registrars, and to answer ad hoc advice and guidance queries from rheumatology specialist nurses, patients and GPs. They will take part in 3 rheumatology clinics a week a mixture of general, specialist and early arthritis.

1. Multi-Disciplinary Team working is a key component of the working within the Trust and involves regular MDT discussions with colleagues.

2. Continuing responsibility for the care of patients in his/her charge, including all administrative duties associated with patient care.

3. Contributing to continuing medical education activity.

1. Provision of cover for colleagues’ periods of leave in accordance with arrangements agreed within Trust policy.

2. Participation in Clinical Audit to inform Quality Improvement and in continuing Medical Education.

3. Providing evidence-based care for patients in a multidisciplinary setting.

4. Conducting suitable duties in cases of emergencies and unforeseen circumstances.
