Our client is looking for a talented and efficient HGV Technician to join their leading team. As an HGV Technician, you will be responsible for servicing, maintaining, and repairing heavy goods vehicles (HGVs) to ensure they meet manufacturers’ specifications and road safety standards. This role is based in a state-of-the-art workshop, utilising modern equipment and techniques.

Responsibilities for the HGV Technician

Carry out routine servicing, maintenance, and repairs on HGVs
Diagnose and rectify mechanical and electrical faults using diagnostic equipment
Conduct inspections and pre-MOT checks to ensure vehicles meet legal requirements
Repair and replace worn or defective parts, including brakes, clutches, engines, and transmissions
Work efficiently in a fast-paced workshop environment
Use specialist tools and diagnostic equipment to identify and repair issues
Keep accurate records of all work completed and report any additional defects
Ensure all work complies with health and safety standards and industry regulations

Skills and Qualifications for the HGV Technician

You will have served a recognised apprenticeship as an HGV Technician and hold a technical qualification such as NVQ / VCQ / SVQ Level 3 in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair
You must have previous experience working as an HGV Technician in a busy workshop environment
Strong knowledge of HGV systems including hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical diagnostics
You must be able to work both independently and as part of a team
A valid HGV Class 1 or 2 licence would be advantageous but is not essential
You will need a proactive attitude and the ability to work to high standards
