As a Porter at Sodexo in Royal Stoke Hospital, you’ll be an essential part of the hospital’s daily operations — safely moving patients, vital equipment, and medical supplies throughout the site. With professionalism and a friendly approach, you’ll help reduce the stress of hospital visits for patients, staff, and visitors alike.
What you’ll do:
Guide patients, visitors, and staff to the correct hospital locations
Handle waste collection and recycling while maintaining health and safety standards
Follow all relevant policies, procedures, and management systems
Safely transport patients between wards using appropriate equipment and care
Deliver specimens, samples, and blood products securely across departments
Support with respectful transfer of deceased patients
Provide additional porter services such as mail delivery, pharmacy runs, moving furniture, and transporting records or stock
What you bring:
Physical stamina and ability to walk or stand for extended periods
Awareness of health and safety practices in a hospital setting
Calmness under pressure and adaptability to changing tasks
A strong team ethic with the ability to work independently when needed
An understanding of confidentiality, emotional resilience, and sensitivity in difficult situations
Excellent communication and listening skills
A helpful, patient-focused attitude and commitment to delivering excellent customer care
