Summary
My client is a UK-based property group focused on co-living and student accommodation. Since their launch in 2021, they have steadily expanded operations and now manage over 100 rental units, primarily in Oxford, with growing footprints in Coventry and Manchester. They operate across two verticals: direct portfolio management and a partner model where they sell for Purpose Built Student Accommodation operators and earn performance-based commissions. The company’s operating principle is lean and outcome driven: every team member is expected to take full ownership of their function and directly support occupancy, cash flow, and operational control.
About the Role
This is a great new growth opportunity for a proficient finance professional with direct experience in the property lettings industry. The role will involve full financial oversight of our rent flows, deposits, deductions, and payment systems. You will work directly with the founder and be responsible for maintaining clarity, control, and structure across all financial transactions and reporting.
This is a delivery role, not a shadow finance function. We are looking for someone who understands how a lettings operation runs financially and can apply that knowledge immediately. Ideally immediately available to start by 23rd June.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain and reconcile weekly reconciliation of rent payments, deposits, and deductions across all active properties and accounts
Ensure all income is tracked, documented, and matched against expected schedules and invoices
Monitor and follow up on missed payments, outstanding deposits, and unresolved disputes with tenants or third parties
Manage the full deposit lifecycle, including deductions, refunds, and compliance with protection scheme requirements
Produce weekly summary reports highlighting income received, pending collections, liabilities, and overall cash flow
Coordinate vendor, staff, and freelance payments in line with company timelines
Maintain accurate documentation of all financial transactions for audit and year-end accounting
Support quarterly and annual financial reviews by preparing structured reports and clean ledgers
Identify inefficiencies and recommend process improvements to strengthen financial control as the business scales
Manage AR,AP, Payroll and invoice payments swiftly
Who We Are Looking For
3 to 5 years experience in property finance or lettings-based accounting roles
Strong understanding of rent cycles, deposit schemes, deductions, and disputes
Hands-on experience reconciling real-time income and payment flows across multiple properties or portfolios
Confident using tools such as QuickBooks, spreadsheets, payment gateways, and property management platforms
Comfortable working independently, tracking performance weekly, and proactively resolving financial issues
Able to coordinate cross-functionally with operations, sales, and the founder to maintain financial clarity
Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and record-keeping under minimal supervision
Working Style and Availability
20 - 25 hours per week, distributed across 4 or 5 working days. Potential to go full time in medium term.
Flexible structure but must maintain consistent reporting timelines and availability during UK business hours
Remote position open only to candidates based in the United Kingdom
Compensation and Commitment
£14 - £15 per hour, paid monthly
Long-term permanent role with growth potential
Opportunity to take on expanded financial control responsibilities over time based on performance
