Summary
Key Responsibilities
- Support students in and outside the classroom under the direction of the class teacher and SENCo.
- Build positive relationships with pupils and encourage independent learning.
- Assist with personal care tasks including hygiene, feeding, and mobility support where required.
- Provide classroom support, including behaviour management, lesson preparation, and use of learning resources.
- Supervise students at breaks, lunchtimes, and on school trips.
- Promote the inclusion, safety, and well-being of all students.
- Maintain cleanliness and readiness of learning and changing areas.
- Participate in the school’s coaching model and community ethos.
Essential Requirements
- Good literacy and numeracy skills (GCSE English/Maths or equivalent).
- Ability to build relationships with students and staff.
- Proactive, flexible, and committed to inclusive education.
- Understanding of safeguarding, health and safety, and confidentiality.
Desirable
- Previous experience working with children or young people.
- First Aid knowledge.
- Completion of DfE Teaching Assistant Induction Programme.
