Birmingham Newman University is inviting applications for Visiting Lecturers in Business Management to contribute to the delivery of our dynamic and growing Business programmes. We are looking for individuals with a strong commitment to teaching excellence and student success.
About the Role:
As a Visiting Lecturer, you will play a key role in delivering high-quality teaching across our Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Foundation programmes in Business Management. You will contribute to the planning, delivery, and assessment of modules, ensuring an engaging and supportive learning environment for our students.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and Delivery: Plan and deliver sessions across Undergraduate, Postgraduate, and Foundation programmes in Business Management.
• Assessment: Develop assignment briefs, assess coursework and examinations, and ensure all assessments align with university standards and quality assurance processes.
• Feedback: Provide timely, constructive, and developmental feedback to support student learning and progression.
• Collaboration: Work collaboratively with academic colleagues to enhance programme delivery and student experience.
• Technology Integration: Effectively use digital tools and platforms (e.g., Moodle VLE) to support teaching, learning, and assessment.
• Additional Duties: Undertake other responsibilities as assigned by the Subject Lead or Course Leader.
If appointed as a Visiting Lecturer, teaching will be allocated on an hourly basis. Successful applicants will be contacted when their expertise is required during the course of the academic year. The number of hours available will be subject to course requirements and may be offered at short notice. The hourly rate of pay for this role varies dependant on the type of work completed. Please see Appendix One of the associated job description for more information.
Relevant subject expertise is essential. Teaching experience and/or a teaching qualification is also preferred.
Short summary of main essential criteria
• A Masters qualification in a relevant subject
• Experience in planning, teaching, and assessing courses in Higher Education or experience in delivering professional education or training, with an ability to express ideas and arguments with clarity and enthusiasm.
• An ability to support students both academically and pastorally
• An excellent standard of spoken and written communication and academic writing, coupled with the ability to develop these skills in students.
• Ability to demonstrate a strong understanding of current trends and practices in Business Management
• Ability to work both individually and as a member of a teaching team.
• An understanding of, and commitment to, equal opportunities.
• Flexibility to work over 7 days, including evenings
